Efficacy of Abacus Hoop© for the learning of primary mathematics in Malaysia
Introduction
Traditional methods of teaching mathematics at the elementary school level frequently fail to adequately interest pupils in comprehending basic concepts like addition, subtraction, fractions, and decimals.
Purpose
A research was conducted to improve pupils’ understanding and engagement in the Numbers and Operations topic by developing and validating the Abacus Hoop©.
Objective
This innovative teaching aid improves hands-on learning for pupils in Year 1 through Year 4. The research adheres to a Design and Development methodology based on the ADDIE model.
Preliminary findings indicate that the Abacus Hoop effectively enhances student engagement and understanding of arithmetic operations.
